July 13, 2007 marks the 10th anniversary of the birth of the Kelly Miller Foundation Golf Tournament. This tournament was the brain-child of the erstwhile Frank Starks, who thought of this fund-raising activity as a means to raise money to support scholarships for students who would have attended Kelly Miller School, if it was still in existence.
In the first year, the tournament grossed over $5000 and had approximately $2000 in fees to net over $3000. Today it has grown to almost triple in size with minimal increases in expenses to support $8000 in yearly scholarship funds and provide some increase in the endowment funds.
The tournament has also grown in the requirements for volunteers to assist in making the event a yearly success. Frank has been successful in soliciting help from members of the KM Association, the KM Foundation, friends, family and immense support from members of the Ptet Dye golf course where Frank works. This hgas truly evolved into a community effort, all sharing in the pride of the academic excellence shown by our recipients.
You too can help us in the movement to make this event one of the premier in Harrison County. Please send whatever contribution you can to:
